Fia Official Arrested For Illegal Issuance Of Blue Passports To Afghan Nationals

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken a significant step in its crackdown on passport fraud with the arrest of one of its own officials, Aneeq, and his father, for their roles in the illegal issuance of blue passports to Afghan citizens. This case involves fraudulent activities that occurred during 2020, 2021, and 2022.

The FIA’s investigation into the misuse of blue passports, typically reserved for diplomatic use, has revealed serious breaches of national security and diplomatic protocol. According to FIA sources, Aneeq, who held an official position within the agency, was responsible for issuing these passports to Afghan nationals. These individuals subsequently used the documents to travel to Turkey, where Turkish authorities discovered and confiscated several counterfeit passports.

The agency has registered a case of terrorism against Aneeq and his associates. This follows the earlier arrest of four other suspects from the passport office implicated in the same fraud. The illegal issuance of these blue passports not only compromised national security but also negatively impacted Pakistan’s diplomatic relations, causing significant international embarrassment.

The FIA’s two-year investigation into the matter has uncovered that Aneeq was also involved in providing confidential information to other individuals connected to the passport fraud network. The agency is now focusing on uncovering the full extent of the fraudulent scheme and identifying any additional officials who may be involved.

The FIA’s actions underscore the seriousness with which it is addressing breaches of national security and integrity, aiming to restore trust and ensure that such violations are met with appropriate legal consequences.
