Russian Deputy Pm Overchuk Arrives In Pakistan On Key Official Visit

ISLAMABAD –  Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday on two-day official visit.

During his visit, Overchuk will engage in discussions with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The talks are expected to cover a wide range of issues, including trade, energy, and connectivity, further strengthening the already cordial relations between Pakistan and Russia.

The Foreign Office emphasized the longstanding relationship between the two countries, marked by mutual goodwill, trust, and cooperation in multiple sectors.

This visit comes in the wake of reports that Islamabad and Moscow are exploring potential Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) transactions by 2026, reflecting deepening economic ties.

Earlier this year, PM Shehbaz Sharif met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Astana, Kazakhstan.

During that meeting, the two leaders highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation, setting the stage for the upcoming visit.
