KARACHI – Transgender individuals have demanded the Sindh government to provide separate wards in public hospitals and shelter homes for elderly transgender people.
Addressing a press conference, transgender leader Alisha stated that one of their community member named Nuri recently passed away due to lack of medical facilities at the Civil Hospital.
She complained that basic medical facilities are not only available to transgender people but also the general public
Despite existing laws, transgender individuals do not receive special facilities in any institutions, Alisha said.
Alisha pointed out that only the police department has established a transgender desk, while no facilities have been provided in any other departments.
She called on the local government and the Sindh government to provide special services for transgender individuals.
She requested that separate wards for transgender individuals be established in public hospitals.
