Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk today, where they discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
According to official sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Overchuk and his delegation at the Prime Minister’s House.
During their conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that strengthening relations with Russia is a key priority in Pakistan’s foreign policy. He expressed Pakistan’s interest in expanding cooperation with Russia in areas such as trade, economy, energy, communications, and security.
The Prime Minister further mentioned his anticipation for the visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Islamabad next month. He referred to his productive discussions with President Vladimir Putin in early July and thanked the Russian President for sending a high-level delegation to discuss further expansion of bilateral cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the warm reception and reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with Pakistan. He characterized the ties between the two nations as constructive and mutually beneficial.
Both sides agreed to maintain regular communication and further enhance their collaboration.
The two leaders also attended the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pakistan and Russia. This agreement aims to boost cooperation in various areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, energy, IT, agriculture, science and technology, and education.
The meeting marks another significant step in the ongoing efforts to solidify the relationship between Pakistan and Russia, fostering greater cooperation in the years to come.
