KARACHI (Web Desk) – Two men have been killed and 20 others injured in a blast at the gate of Burhani Mosque in Karachi’s Arambagh area on Friday.
According to initial reports, a powerful bomb blast ripped through a mosque of Bohra community when they were offering Friday prayers.
The bomb was planted on a motorbike, bearing a licence plate KGB 7264 under the name of Liaquat, a resident of Kimari Town, police sources said, adding the bike was parked outside the mosque near Pakistan Chowk.
Rescue teams and security personnel have arrived at the site of the blast and are ferrying the injured, including three children and a woman, to hospitals.
A police station is also located near the blast site in densely populated area that is hub of commercial activities.
DIG South Abdul Khaliq Sheikh said it was a time bomb.
Rangers personnel have cordoned off the area and started investigations.
The two victims were identified as Muhammad Shabbir and Husnain.
Friday’s bombing was the first on a Bohra mosque in Karachi since an attack three years ago that claimed seven lives.
