Bomber targets Rangers vehicle in Karachi: 2 killed

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Two security officials were killed and four others wounded when a bike-borne bomber hit a Rangers mobile in North Nazimabad area of sprawling Karachi Friday evening.

The blast took place on Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan in Shadman Town’s J-Block, where a Rangers team was on routine patrolling.

SP Gulberg confirmed it was a suicide blast. He said the bomber came on a motorbike.

Reports said two paramilitary soldiers, Qasim and Yaar Mohammad,  died while being ferried to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital.

The three injured, among them two civilians Akram and Syeda, are stated to be in critical condition.

Immediately after the blast, teams of rescuers and security officials reached the area, while officials of Bomb Disposal Squad were also called in.

The area has been cordoned off by security officials.

The Rangers mobile was completely wrecked in the blast that rocked the entire North Nazimabad.

The attack on Rangers came some hours after a bomb ripped through a Bohra community mosque in Arambagh area, killing two people and wounding 20 others fatally.
