The Punjab government has made the decision to grant permission to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold a public rally in Lahore, according to reliable sources. An official announcement is expected shortly.
Sources further indicate that instead of Minar-e-Pakistan, the PTI rally may be assigned a different location within Lahore. In this regard, a meeting of the District Intelligence Committee, chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, was convened. During the meeting, police reports and the aftermath of the Islamabad rally were reviewed to assess the situation.
The committee discussed various proposals regarding whether to approve the rally or not. The Deputy Commissioner has requested a detailed report from the Punjab Police regarding the rally, with a final decision expected by 5 PM, as per court orders.
Earlier today, the Lahore High Court dismissed a petition seeking to halt PTI’s rally, declaring it inadmissible. The court also directed the government to finalize its decision on granting permission by the 5 PM deadline.
This decision comes amid heightened political activity and anticipation surrounding PTI’s planned event in the city.
