Chaudhry Sugar Mills case: Accountability court extends Maryam Nawaz s remand by 14 days

LAHORE – An accountability court in Lahore extended Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz’s remand by 14 days in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

According to media details, the PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz and her cousin Yousaf Abbas appeared before an accountability court today in connection with the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

Yousaf Abbas was also arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on August 8 and was also remanded into the NAB’s custody for 14 days.

The court ordered the accountability watchdog to produce both Maryam and Yousaf on September 4.

NAB had arrested Maryam along with her cousin Yousaf Abbas in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case on August 8 this year.

Meanwhile, there were reports that a scuffle erupted between police personnel and PML-N workers right after Maryam Nawaz left the court after the hearing.

The SP City ordered to arrest those who tried to enter the court from judges gate but the workers managed to flee from the scene. Captain (r) Safdar also stepped into the clash and grabbed police officers’ sticks.
