Will do my best to mediate between Pakistan and India over Kashmir dispute, says US President Trump

WASHINGTON – United States (US) President Donald Trump has reiterated his offer to mediate between Pakistan and India over the Kashmir issue.

Talking to reporters at Oval office, the US President said that he will do his best to mediate or help somehow with the tensions between India and Pakistan over Kashmir issue.

He said Kashmir is a complicated issue and he would discuss the issue with Indian Prime Minister Modi over the weekend at G-7 meeting in France.

Donald Trump said we are helping the situation, but there are tremendous problems between the two countries, adding that “I will do the best I can to meditate or do something”.

Earlier, while holding a press conference with PM Imran in Washington, the US president had offered to mediate the decades-long Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan.

The US President had reiterated his offer to mediate between Pakistan and India on Kashmir issue while talking to reporters at Ohio. He said that it is up to New Delhi and Islamabad to decide on mediation and he is ready to assist both the sides.

Trump said, “I think they are fantastic people Khan and Modi — I mean. I would imagine they could get along very well, but if they wanted somebody to intervene, to help them and I spoke with Pakistan about that and I spoke frankly in (sic) India about it.”
