SIALKOT (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that country’s economy is improving with every passing day.
Addressing a ceremony held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday, the prime minister also vowed to make an expressway from Sialkot to Lahore.
“We are cutting a deal with China for at least 4,000MW electricity. The government will be able to produce at least 10,000MW by December 2017,” he stated.
Counting his government’s feats since its election in 2013, Nawaz Sharif shared his plan of further reducing the electricity prices. “The power tariff has already dropped from Rs28 to Rs16. After importing 3600MW LNG from China, we will be in a better position to tackle the energy crisis and high tariffs,” he added.
The PM vowed to overcome electricity crisis within next three to four years. “The power crisis was not produced by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government and, thus, it cannot be vanquished in a day,” he added.
Nawaz said that the government was already decided on establishing power plants from its own pocket and without any foreign funding.
However, he invited the foreign investors to the country, assuring them that the situation of security was improving after the success of ongoing military operation, Zarb-e-Azb, and other actions taken under National Action Plan (NAP).
Rejecting any discriminate action against a specific political party, the PM said that the government was targeting only the militants.
Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhamamad Asif and several MPAs and MNAs, belonging to PML-N, were also present on the occasion.
