LONDON (Web Desk) – British nationals around the world are all set to vote in a referendum to decide whether their country should stay in European Union or leave.
Here are some key points that every Briton and people around the world need to know about the crucial Brexit vote.
The Question of Referendum:
At the ballot papers, voters will be provided with a question “Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?”
The Choices:
The voters will have be given two choices: “Remain a member of the European Union” and “Leave the European Union”. Voters will be able to opt for only one option.
Language of Ballot Paper:
Ballot papers will be in English, except Wales, where the ballot papers will be in English and Welsh.
Who is Eligible to Vote?
All British, Irish and Commonwealth citizens above the age of 18 years, who live in Great Britain, as well as citizens of Gibraltar, are eligible to vote in the Brexit referendum. There are total 46,499,537 registered voters for these polls.
When the Polls will Open?
Polls will be open from 0600 GMT to 2100 GMT on Thursday (June 23).
What About Results?
The vote counting will begin as soon as the last vote is cast on June 23.
There are as many as 382 local counting areas, including Gibraltar, which will declare their results independently and the first big cloud of results is expected after 1:00 GMT on Friday.
The final and joint result of the referendum will be announced in Manchester Town Hall in northern England.
