ISLAMABAD – President Arif Alvi conferred Pakistan’s highest civil award Nishan-e-Pakistan on visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad during a ceremony at President House in Islamabad on Friday.
The prestigious ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, federal ministers, parliamentarians and senior military and civilian officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahathir Mohamad said he was grateful to the government of Pakistan for conferring him with the top civilian award of the country.

“Malaysia wants to promote ties with Pakistan in every sector,” he observed and added that people of both the countries were well aware of each other’s cultures.
The Malaysia premier is paying a three-day visit to Pakistan along with a high-level delegation including leading businessmen. He has become 24th personality to have received the award by Pakistan.
A banquet is being held in his honour at the Aiwan-i-Sadr following the investiture ceremony. The last foreign dignitary to be awarded the Nishan-e-Pakistan was Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who was honoured during his visit to Islamabad last month for which Pakistan awarded a rousing welcome.
Mohamad will be the chief guest at the Pakistan Day parade wherein Pakistan is set to show its military might. The visit is being made on Prime Minister Khan’s invitation.
