ISLAMABAD – Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa made a telephone call to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday and inquired after the health of his wife, Kulsoom Nawaz, who has been diagnosed with throat cancer.
According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) The army chief expressed his best wishes and prayers for the health of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz Sharif.

The first telephonic contact between serving military head and former premier after the Panama case verdict was made in the backdrop of Kulsoom Nawaz’ health who was diagnosed with a throat cancer by British doctors.
According to the doctors, Kulsoom needed immediate treatment, however, her ailment was curable and “treatment shouldn’t be too complicated.”

Doctors discussed various options of treatment and agreed that surgery and radiation therapy will not be used because Kulsoom can be treated through chemotherapy, sources said.
The former first lady is the candidate of ruling party for NA-120 bye-polls, a seat vacated after the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif by the top court but it is highly likely that she won’t be able to take part in the election campaign for the said constituency.
