PM Abbasi lands in London as Nawaz Sharif convenes party meeting

LONDON – Former premier Nawaz Sharif summoned his close aides for a crucial meeting of ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, for which premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi made a stop-over in London, here on Saturday.

The meeting would be attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and other senior members of the party.

Apart from a discussion on the current political situation of the country, the references filed by National Accountability Bureau against the embattled Sharif family would also come under discussion.

PM Abbasi’s maiden tour to United Nations General Assembly as well as US President Donald Trump’s Afghan policy would also be examined.

Moreover, the leaders would also brainstorm over the recent judgment by the Lahore High Court directing the government of Punjab to make the Baqir Najfi judicial commission report on Model Town killings public.

Surprisingly, former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan would not be a part of the meeting, however, rumours are rife that Nisar has conveyed a message to Nawaz Sharif through latter’s brother Shahbaz Sharif.
