FM Qureshi urges Int’l community to take immediate steps to save human lives in Occupied Kashmir

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the international community must take immediate steps to save human lives in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir as the Genocide Watch has also issued a detailed alert in this regard.

Addressing the Diplomatic Corps at Foreign Office, the foreign minister said that Indian illegal and unilateral actions to change the demography of Occupied Kashmir are clear violations of the Geneva Convention.

The minister said that tensions between Pakistan and India over Kashmir issue are a threat to regional peace, adding that war between the two atomic powers is equivalent to mutual suicide.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said he has talked to his counterparts of many countries and all have stressed the need to address the issue peacefully.

He said the recent session of the Security Council is the acknowledgement of the severity of the issue, the Radio Pakistan reported.

The foreign minister said that Indian media is propagating the false news of an alleged terrorist attack from Pakistan to divert the attention of the world community from the core issue of Kashmir.

He said we had already conveyed the danger of this propaganda in our letter written to the President of the Security Council.
