LAHORE (Staff Report) – World’s largest technology giant Google on Monday launched its ‘Person Finder’ service in Pakistan and Afghanistan, in a bid to help in locating the missing people following a deadly earthquake that jolted he region.
According to a statement by Google, ‘Person Finder’ can be accessed by common people to post “the location of any missing person they know” or post about anyone “who is still missing” after the earthquake.
All the data entered under this service will be available to everyone worldwide and helpful to people in locating their missing loved ones.

The service was first launched after 2010’s earthquake in Haiti, which killed more than 100,000 people. Later the service was again enabled twice after last year’s tremors in Kashmir and 2015’s disastrous earthquake in Nepal.
The magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck in north-eastern Afghanistan, Pakistan and parts of India according to the United States Geological Survey however the Pakistan Meteorological Department, however, said the magnitude of the earthquake was 8.1.
The quake was 196 km deep and centred 82 km south-east of Feyzabad in a remote area of Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush mountain range.
