Bushra Bibi refutes senior journalists' claims over marriage with Imran Khan
ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s first lady Bushra Bibi has rejected the speculations triggered by senior journalists over her marriage with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The third wife of Imran Khan, during an exclusive interview with a private news channel, revealing hidden facts of his husband’s life said, “Pakistan is fortunate to have a leader like Imran Khan. Imran Khan is not a politician but a leader”.

She also elaborated the events from her divorce from her former husband Khawar Maneka to her marriage with cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan. Throwing shade on persons who spread baseless rumours about their marriage, she clarified that no "unnatural incident" could be blamed for their marriage.

When host Nadeem Malik asked a question if you were directed, as a media person claimed in his Urdu column, by the Prophet (PBUH) in a dream for tying the knot with Khan, the first lady refuted it saying the person who wrote such things should think carefully before making such claims.

Urdu journalist Javed Chaudhry in his column revealed the factors behind this marriage. He wrote that Bushra Bibi was directed by the Prophet in a dream for the marriage.

Responding to another question about her Iddat (the time a woman goes into isolation after her husband dies or divorces her), Bushra Bibi clarified that she left the house of her former husband, Maneka, after completing the iddat period.

The first lady, who seems a strong follower of Islam, rejected the claims that she married Khan during the Iddat period. She added that the marriage took place around seven months after the completion of the iddat.

In March 2018, Umer Cheema, a prominent investigative journalist, had broken a story that the Bushra-Imran marriage held before the completion of the iddat period.

In his report, Cheema said that to hide the fact about Bushra Bibi’s Iddat, pictures were released on February 18.

Cheema claimed that Imran appealed to Mufti Saeed, who solmenised the Nikkah of the couple, to not reveal it to anyone.

“Media will chase you. They will try to provoke you (into disclosure) as you are a gentle fellow. You are to protect my honour at all costs. I had trusted you before and you honoured it. Please make sure you don’t talk on this issue,” read Cheema's exclusive news.
