Hezbollah secretary general Hassan Nasrallah was killed in Israeli air raids amid fear of full scale war in Middle East. Labanese militant group confirmed the death of its leader along with his daughter Zainab Nasrallah.

Nasrullah was born in 1960 in Beirut, he joined the armed group after the 1982 Israeli invasion and became its secretary-general in 1992 following the assassination of Abbas al-Musawi.

Under Nasrallah’s leadership, Hezbollah enhanced its military capabilities, acquiring advanced rockets that enabled strikes on northern Israel. He played a significant role in the 2006 Lebanon War, which was triggered by an Israeli airstrike that killed Hezbollah fighters.

The late politcian was known for his key role in conflicts, including 2006 war and the Syrian Civil War, which also led to criticism, and several countries have labeled him militant. Despite this, Nasrallah amassed huge following and was regarded as a key figure in Lebanon and the Arab world, celebrated for advocating Lebanese and Palestinian rights.

He is often credited with helping end the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon and promoting regional cooperation.

Nasrallah’s personal life has been fraught with loss, notably the death of his eldest son, Muhammad Hadi, in an Israeli ambush in 1997, along with other family members in conflicts with Israel.

On Friday night, Israeli forces conducted a precise strike on Hezbollah’s headquarters in Dahieh, Beirut, resulting in the death of leader Hassan Nasrallah and several other commanders. The attack caused significant damage and injuries, with initial reports indicating at least six fatalities and 91 wounded.

Hezbollah vowed to continue its fight against Israel, pledging support for Gaza and Palestine. Meanwhile, Iran expressed solidarity with Hezbollah and emphasized the importance of resistance in the region. Nasrallah’s death marks a significant blow to Hezbollah amidst ongoing Israeli operations targeting its leadership.
