LONDON (Web Desk/Agencies) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed confident that his party would take a lead in local bodies government polls after victory in cantonment board elections, due to “good performance.”
Talking to media persons after concluding his official visit to the United Kingdom, the Prime Minister said the results of cantonment board elections were promising for PML-N’s success in the local government and general polls in future.
To a question regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s claim of rigging in general election, the Prime Minister said “if they insist the proofs are in ballot bags only, what solid evidences they had with themselves?”
He said previously, the same claim proved wrong when ballot bags of a Lahore constituency were opened to probe allegations of rigging, and resultantly PML-N’s margin of lead was increased.
About China’s projects announced during President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan, the Prime Minister said it would prove beneficial for all areas of the country.
Sharif said the projects were a huge investment by China rather than a loan or grant.
He said the projects would encompass different areas of energy including construction of hydropower, solar and coal-powered plants to overcome power shortage in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Sharif condemned the murder of social activist Sabeen Mehmood in Karachi and said the culprits would be brought to justice.
