PML-N informal huddle ends authorising Nawaz to pick next PM

ISLAMABAD – The former prime minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif has been entrusted with the responsibility to finalise the next premier by his party bigwigs during an informal consultative meeting here on Saturday.

PML -N chief Nawaz Sharif who was disqualified a day earlier by the five-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan held a session at the PM House with his close confidantes to pick the next man for the slot of the premier.

The meeting that included Ayyaz Sadiq, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Shahbaz Sharif, Pervaiz Rasheed, Asif Kirmain, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other leaders posed complete confidence in Nawaz Sharif to pick the man who would fill his shoes.

In case Shahbaz Sharif is to become the next premier of Pakistan, the ruling PML-N would elect an interim premier so that Shahbaz Sharif can leave his provincial seat and contest by-elections for the National Assembly.

Senior journalist Saleh Zaafir told Geo News that PML-N’s consultative session had decided that Shehbaz Sharif will be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan.

He added that either Hamza Shehbaz Sharif or Rana Sanaullah will replace Shehbaz Sharif as the Punjab chief minister.

After the consultative meeting, another parliamentary meeting of the party would take place in which the final decision would be made as to who would lead the government now.
