SHENZHEN – Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei overtakes Apple and becomes the second largest manufacturer in the world.
According to the sales report by Stamford based analysis firm Gartner, Huawei shipped 50 million devices in the second quarter of 2018, achieving almost 13.3% of the smartphone market share. Samsung stayed at the top by shipping almost 72 million units in the same quarter. It owns 19.3% of the smartphone market.
On the other hand, US tech giant Apple shipped 44 million units and ranked third on the list.
Samsung and Apple have lost the overall market share, with a shortfall of 3.3% and 0.2%, compared to the year-ago quarter.
While, Huawei is rapidly increasing it’s after sales, from 9.8% (35,964 mn) in the previous year to the present, 13.3 %.
According to analysts, Huawei is becoming a popular choice for consumers owing to the addition of new and unique features in their smartphones.

Though Apple’s market share is down if compared with the second quarter of 2017, it is expected that Apple will soon be back in the game as it is expected to launch three iPhones this year.
