KARACHI – Sindh government has signed a summary of extension in special powers to Pakistan Rangers for 90-day in the province on Tuesday.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah signed the summary extending special police powers to Rangers, effective from January 6 until April 5.
The special powers have been given to Rangers under Section-5 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 according to which Rangers were authorized to conduct a raid and arrest accused.
A notification in this regard has been issued after the approval of the federal government.
The Rangers have been playing an effective role in maintaining law and order situation by curbing heinous crimes in the metropolis.
