ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Ch turned up before the supreme court over his commentary in the case pertaining to the transfer of Inspector General Police of Islamabad.
During the hearing of a case related to the transfer of top cop on Wednesday, the minister apprised the bench that there were some issues in the bureaucracy, claiming that his statement was not against the judiciary.
The top judge asked the minister to go through Article 4 of the constitution following which the minister expressed that he dared not to comment against the judiciary.
After the explanation, the supreme court withdrew its notice against the minister.
Chief Justice Saqib Nisar had summoned the minister along with Federal Minister for Science and Technology Azam Khan Swati, asking the latter to produce the documents of his farmhouse.
A three-member bench headed by the chief justice also directed the concerned authorities to produce the children of the victim family with whom Azam Swati’s son had a conflict.
‘Apparently, Fawad Ch commented on the judicial proceedings which is irresponsible,’ remarked the chief justice.

The top judge observed that without a doubt, the prime minister is the chief executive, however, clarified that such type of statements are generally avoided.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar had taken notice of transfer of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Islamabad, Jan Muhammad allegedly after his refusal to take action on the complaint of Federal Minister Azam Swati’s son and failing to pick calls from the minister.
The top court suspended the transfer, following which Fawad Chaudhry had said that the inspector generals of police (IGPs) is answerable to the prime minister and chief minister and questioned ‘what is the point of elections’ if the premier cannot suspend a police chief.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister Senator Azam Swati Monday said that he had approached Prime Minister Imran Khan after several failed attempts at contacting IGP Jan Muhammad over an incident at his farmhouse last week.
Swati said he had made several attempts to contact the inspector-general to inform him regarding the incident and ensuing bomb threats from the “illegal occupants” who later beat up and injured his three guards.
The interior secretary told me that he had been trying to get in touch with the inspector general himself for several hours but was unable to do so, Swati said while talking to a private media outlet.
“When I got in touch with him [IGP] on Thursday at around 6:00 pm, even then he did not do anything, as a result of which three of my guards were injured. Are they not citizens of Pakistan? Will the law of the land not be implemented here?” he asked.
The minister said that his guard was told that “you and your Khan would be eliminated in a bomb attack”. I then informed the DSP, SSP, and then the IGP Islamabad.
“Even after 22 hours, despite several of my calls, no action was taken and three Pakistani citizens were injured,” he said.
