PSL 4 Match 11: Islamabad defeat Peshawar by 12 runs as Sami scores hat-trick

SHARJAH – Islamabad United overpowered Peshawar Zalmi by 12 runs in the 11th encounter of ongoing Pakistan Super League on Friday.

Batting first, Islamabad set a target of 159 runs against Peshawar Zalmi after the latter won the toss at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Middle-order batsman Ian Bell scored a half-century while Cameron Delport managed to bag 29 runs.  Luke Ronchi was able to contribute 21 to the total; Islamabad United lost 9 wickets in its innings.

On the other hand, Sameen Gul took three wickets, Hasan Ali two, while Umaid Asif, Pollard and Wahab Riaz took one each.

In reply, Peshawar Zalmi lost early wickets as the opening line-up failed to impress with Imam ul Haq contributing 18 and Kamran Akmal 7 to Zalmi’s 146 runs.

Islamabad United captain Muhammad Sami scored a hat-trick as he sent Wahab, Hassan Ali and Umaid back to the pavilion.

Mohammad Musa also took three wickets to restrict Zalmi to 146 runs. Only Pollard resisted a bit as he scored 51 on mere 22 balls. With two balls in hand, Zalmi were all out in the encounter.
