Pakistan to set precedence for accusing India an ‘Eco-Terrorist’: minister

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan will sooner be approaching United Nations to claim damages from India for inflicting eco-terrorism in Pakistani territory after their planes dropped payload in Balakot last month harming precious trees and eco-system.

Adviser to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam Thursday said that Pakistan is going to set a precedent in the world for accusing India an Eco-Terrorist in the United Nations Environment
Assembly.

“Teams have been dispatched to the assessment of loss to eco-system and forest area. Sooner we finalize details of loss, we shall approach the United Nations for damages compensation,” Advisor to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam informed media persons here on Thursday.

The team comprises representatives of World Wildlife Fund (WWF), International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Survey of Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department.

Indian Air Force jets had dropped payload in Jabba forests, near Balakot when they were chased by Pakistani fighter jets to push them across the Line of Control, after their intrusion into Pakistani area in the darkness of night on February 26.

“We would make the world believe that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not only involved in state terrorism in Indian Occupied Kashmir but also poised to inflict eco-terrorism in Pakistani area,” Amin Aslam told reporters.

He said that the site of destroyed trees was one of the protected areas under world-renowned Billion Tree Tsunami project. He said, “We know how to guard a single leaf of our motherland. Trees are of great importance to us and especially the incumbent government. Prime Minister Imran Khan himself is passionate about trees”.

“It is going to be the first ever precedent by any country to approach United Nations seeking compensation for eco-terrorism,” he said and claimed to have sufficient grounds in evidence being collected for supporting Pakistan’s stance in front of the United Nations.
