Modi just changed his name to Chowkidar and what the hell?

LAHORE – Modi just launched the campaign, “Main Bhi Chowkidaar” in which Modi and other members of his political party have added the word ‘chowkidaar’ to their Twitter handles. This campaign calls for people within India to be their country’s own chowkidaars and fight for the progress and welfare of their country.

Modi’s new anti-corruption vigilance campaign has made the word “chowkidar” a global Twitter trend.

Since the weekend, the campaign has been a source of entertainment on social media and an opportunity for Opposition parties to poke fun at the BJP’s own corruption controversies.

The campaign counters Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s repeated attacks on Modi and his government over various alleged manhandling of economic and defence deals and situations, with the slogan – “Chowkidar Chor Hai (watchman is a thief)”.

“Five years ago, Chowkidar said he wanted to fight corruption. He said he wanted to make it a ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’. Today, the slogan of ‘Acche Din Aayenge’ has changed to ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’,” Gandhi has been repeating at rallies.
