Pakistan, Russia hold strategic consultation group dialogue in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD – The 13th meeting of the Pakistan-Russia Consultative Group on Strategic Stability is in progress at Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.

Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov are leading their respective delegations in the meeting.

The delegations exchanging views over the regional stability and security in the meeting, the foreign office spokesperson here said.

Earlier on Wednesday, while speaking at Pakistan-Russia strategic relations in Islamabad, Pakistan’s foreign secretary Tehmina Janjua proposed a seven-point roadmap for boosting Pakistan’s bilateral relations with Russia.

She also observed that the Russian stance on the recent military standoff between Pakistan and India demonstrated that the complexion of the relationship has already changed.

The foreign secretary suggested a seven-point roadmap that could enhance a stronger relationship between the two countries.

The proposed roadmap of relations comprises of resolution of the pending issue of about 200 million US$ of Russian money held by Pakistani banks due to a financial dispute, signing of a free trade agreement, deepening of strategic cooperation and understanding, boosting defence relations, Russian participation in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) etc.
