Powerful quake hits Southern California again in two days

CALIFORNIA – A powerful earthquake of 7.1 magnitudes hit Southern California on Friday.

The jolts shook California with 11 times more force than an apparent foreshock that hit the same area a day earlier.

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the latest quake struck at about 8:20 pm local time near the town of Ridgecrest on the edge of Death Valley National Park.

The earthquake was also measured at 7.1 by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Agency.

The tremor had caused some damage to buildings.

Earlier on Thursday, the quake hit during America’s Independence Day celebrations.
