ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated on Friday, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani on securing the confidence vote and said it showed the trust reposed in his leadership abilities to run the house effectively.
The Prime Minister expressed these views in a meeting with Chairman Senate Sanjrani here at the PM Office.
Leader of the House in Senate Shibli Faraz, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak and Senator Barrister Muhammad Ali Khan Saif were also present.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Sanjrani would continue his role of running the house in the best manner.
Sadiq Sanjrani survived a no-trust move forwarded by coalesced opposition in the Upper Chamber of the House.
Senator Muhammad Ali Saif who was presiding the session started the voting process when 64 Senators approved moving of a resolution against the incumbent Chairman Senate.
The opposition needed at least 53 votes for no-confidence but fell just three votes short of victory. Five votes were rejected, while 45 were cast in favour of Sanjrani.
