Islamabad s Park View society encroaches upon land reserved for botanical garden

ISLAMABAD – The Park View Society has encroached upon the land reserved for Botanical Garden near Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence in Islamabad.

The land belongs to the Zoological Survey of Pakistan department and as per an order issued by the Supreme Court, was dedicated for a botanical garden, however, the private housing society is apparently defying the orders and encroaching upon the land by constructing a road.

In its 2017 orders, the apex court had directed the authorities to take possession of land from Park View society following which an operation was successfully executed.

The land spanning 725 Acres was retrieved from the housing society and a boundary was erected to secure the possession; the society belongs to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Aleem Khan.

However, on Tuesday the society officials tried to demolish the wall to illegally usurp the state-owned land for one more time, defying the earlier orders issued by the top court.

Soon after the society officials tried to take illegal possession of the land, officials from the Ministry of Climate Change visited the site to thwart the bid.

However, the staff of upscale housing society vandalized and misbehaved with ministry officials and threatened them with dire consequences following which the authorities took into confidence the police and local administration.

Well-placed sources in the ministry said a committee has also been constituted to conduct a thorough probe into the matter.
