ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Minister for National Food Security Sikandar Hayat Bosan has said that Urea price will be brought back to its previous rate by the end of next month.
Talking to media, he said the Kisan package announced by the Prime Minister is a short-term measure while consultations are underway to prepare mid and long term packages for the peasants as well.
The Minister said the trend of decrease in the commodity prices is expected to continue for the next five years but the government is keenly monitoring the situation and will devise a proper strategy to cope with the situation to save the growers from losses.
Bosan said Pakistan has one of the largest agriculture infrastructure market size but our system is very week that could not cater to the needs of growers.
He said the Prime Minister is focusing on improving this infrastructure by launching and completing mega projects.
The Minister, to a question, said that as the new potato crop will come in the market, its import from India will be totally banned to benefit our local growers.
