PTI postpones Islamabad protest, decides to stage rally in Lahore on Oct 9

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has postponed a rally scheduled to be held on October 4 in Islamabad saying that party chief Imran Khan will address workers in Lahore’s Samanabad ground on October 9.

The rally was aimed to pressurize the members of Election Commission of Pakistan  (ECP) to resign following the findings of Judicial Commission which held ECP responsible for irregularities during General Elections in 2013.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Imran Khan said that PTI has decided to postpone the October 4’s rally in Islamabad and instead he will address his party worker at Samanabad ground in Lahore on October 9.

“Another rally will be conducted at D-Chowk in Islamabad after the upcoming by-polls in Lahore’s NA-122 and PP-147,” he stated.

PTI chief said it took him more than two years to expose electoral rigging and vulnerable justice system of Pakistan. He further added that current members of ECP are those who mismanaged and rigged the elections in 2013. We are not going to trust the same members of ECP who are team B of PML-N, he declared.

He went on to say that PTI will win the by-polls despite pre-poll rigging and usage government machinery in NA-122.

He also criticized Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz for approaching Supreme Court of Pakistan to earn a stay order against a by-poll in NA-154. The ruling party was sure of defeat in Lodhran and hence it once again misused the laws to save the face, he said.

He announced that he will reach Lahore tomorrow to lead political campaign of NA-122 by-poll. “I will lead Tsunami in Lahore and create a situation like 2013’s general elections once again,” he said.

Earlier today Supreme Court of Pakistan granted a stay order to PML-N’s  ‘disqualified’ MNA Saddiq Baloch a decision of an election tribunal which declared his election as null and void while ordering a re-election in NA-154.
