Stem the rot of Shiv Sena , former Indian naval chief writes open letter to Modi

NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – Urging the Indian government to take strict notice of recent events of intolerance,  former naval chief Admiral L Ramdas has written an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Parnab Mukharjee, reported The Telegraph.

In the letter, dated October 22, Ramdas went on to say that as a veteran Indian in his 80s, his head hangs in shame following the recent attacks of extremist political parties i.e. Shiv Sena on minorities and Dalit Hindus.

He requested the premier and president to to ‘stem the rot’ of such attacks to restore people’s faith in democracy.

He further added that the ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to make India a Hindu state is the real reason behind these incidents and it has resulted in killings of people merely on the basis of rumors.

Former navy head said that Muslims living in India have to prove their loyalty everyday and yet they are suspected for their eating habits and religious believes. The places of worship of Muslims are also not safe from extremist attacks.

Ramdas joined Indian navy at the age of 15 and headed it between 1990 to 1993. He has won a Magsaysay award for peace in 2004.
