Indian actor Anupam Kher denied Pakistani visa

NEW DELHI (Staff Report) – Pakistani High Comission in New Delhi has denied visa to Indian actor Anupam Kher, reported Indian media on Tuesday.

Anupam Kher was due to arrive in Karachi, Pakistan to attend Karachi Literary Festival as distinguished guest. The event was scheduled on February 5, the day Pakistan marks Kashmir Solidarity Day.

According to reports, Pakistani officials rejected the visa citing security reasons. Then officials shared no further details on the case, it added. Meanwhile over a dozen members of Indian delegation have been granted Pakistani visa.

Meanwhile a spokesman for Pakistani High Commission said that visa request of Idnain actor was still underway and not rejected.

The actor was denied a Pakistani visa in May 2015 as well, when he wanted to visit Pakistan to attend a literary festival in Lahore.

It is also pertinent to be mentioned here that Anupam Kher is husband of actress turned politician Kirron Kher, who was elected as Lok Sabha member in May 2014 election on the ticket of Bhartia Janta Party (BJP), the ruling party of India.
