LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Christian community has decided to call off their protest over Sunday’s deadly bombings at two churches in Youhanabad after a successful round of negotiation between the Punjab government and Christian leaders.
The talks were held on Monday. The government side was led by former law minister Rana Sanaullah who said security of the churches would be heightened across the country.
He said the militants had no religion. He also urged the Christian community to be patient as the government would not spare militants at any cost.
Meanwhile, according to media reports, the paramilitary Rangers has been called in to placate the protest and bring the situation to normal.
Protests erupted across the country after bombers targeted two churches in a Christian neighbourhood during Sunday prayers, killing 14 people and wounding 77 others. Another three injured died while receiving medical treatment at the Lahore General Hospital.
Meanwhile, the staff at the Lahore General Hospital has been ordered not to take any off day till March 25. The hospital has been put on high alert.
