RAWALPINDI – In the second ODI, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets to take a decisive 2-0 lead in the series.
Played in Rawalpindi, Pakistan chased down the target of 289 runs in the 49th over, losing just 2 wickets.
Babur Azam played a key role in the victory, scoring his 28th career century, remaining unbeaten on 102. This was his first century in an international match in 807 days, across 83 innings.
Fakhar Zaman scored 78 and Saim Ayub 33 before getting out. Mohammad Rizwan remained not out at 51.
Both Sri Lankan wickets were taken by Dushmantha Chameera.
Earlier, after Pakistan won the toss and elected to field, Sri Lanka scored 288 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted overs.
Janith Liyanage stood out with 54 runs, while Kusal Mendis scored 44, Sadeera Samarawickrama 42, Kamil Mishara 27, Pathum Nissanka 24, Koshal Mendis 20, captain Charith Asalanka 6, and Dushmantha Chameera 0.
Wanindu Hasaranga and Pramod Madushan remained not out with 37 and 11 runs respectively.
For Pakistan, Abrar Ahmed and Haris Rauf took 3 wickets each, while Mohammad Wasim Jr. claimed 1 wicket.
