PESHAWAR (Staff Report) – Four activists of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), including Member Provincial Assembly Sahibzada Sanaullah and two from the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) were left injured after a brawl between the workers of both parties over the inauguration of an uplift scheme in Luqman Banda Khel, Lower Dir on Monday.
According to locals, Sahibzada Sanaullah MPA from PK-93 allegedly uprooted the plaques installed after provincial Finance Minister Muzaffar Said, MPA Aizazul Mulk Afkari, and others visited the site for the uplift scheme.
Sources privy to the incident said that dozens of PPP workers led by MPA Sanaullah blocked the road at Japani Pul, preventing Finance Minister Muzaffar Said to continue his scheduled journey towards Timergara.
Soon after, hundreds of JI activists reached the spot and workers of both parties started pelting stones at each other while some of the activists also resorted to aerial firing
Later, the JI leader Aizazul Mulk Afkari, former MPA Malik Bahram, Akhunzada Sikandar Hazrat and others alleged that the PPP lawmaker Sanaullah had taken law into his own hands.
“MPA Sanaullah should have raised the issue in the assembly or moved the court of law if he had any grievances,” Aizazul Mulk said.
Meanwhile, talking to newsmen, Sahibzada Sanaullah said that Luqman Banda Khel was situated in his constituency and he had the right to inaugurate the uplift schemes.
A police official said that cases against leaders of both the parties had been registered.
