Rain turns weather pleasant in Punjab, KP; more showers likely in Lahore

LAHORE (Staff Report) – Most parts of the country including Islamabad and Murree experienced rainfall on Monday, turning the weather pleasant and giving citizen’s  temporary relief from the ongoing heat wave, said to be one of the hottest in the country’s history.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), most parts of Punjab, including Gujranwala and Rawalpindi, and the federal capital Islamabad saw rainfall.

Lahoris are observing cloudy and windy weather as rain is likely in the evening. The maximum temperature in Lahore is likely to reduce to 42 degrees while the minimum is expected to be as low as 27 degrees, a private news channel reported.

In Multan, dry and hot weather was recorded as weather experts said that the rainy season would begin in the metropolis in July.

On the other hand, thunderstorms with strong gusty winds are expected in scattered places of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan divisions), Islamabad, upper Punjab (Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Lahore divisions), FATA, GB and Kashmir.

Today’s highest maximum temperatures were recorded in Sibbi , Jacobabad, Sh Benazirabad, Bhakkar at 50 C, and in Larkana, Moenjodaro, Noorpul Thal 49øC, Dadu, Sukkur, Rohri, Padidan 48øC, RY Khan, DI Khan at 47 C.

Karachi’s temperature today was recorded at 33°C.
