KASHMIR – Indian-occupied Kashmir witnessed a fresh wave of state-ordered violence when 4 youngsters were killed in the Kupwara district, raising the death toll from clashes between government forces and protesters to a staggering 64 since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8.
The troops killed the youth during a siege and search operation in Nawgam area of the district.
Meanwhile, curfew and state-imposed other restrictions have continued for an 18th consecutive day in the restive valley, making life increasingly more miserable for the locals. The restrictions are being enforced to stop the Kahsmiri people from staging demonstrations, according to Hurriyet leaders.
“Curfew shall continue without any relaxation in Islamabad, Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama districts while restrictions will remain in force in parts of Srinagar, Sopore and Kupwara,” a senior police official told media men.
The operation in Kupwara was still ongoing till the filing of this report.
