WASHINGTON (News Desk) – The US military has confirmed that North Korea test-fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile, condemning the hermit state’s latest “provocation” and vowing to raise concerns at the United Nations.
In a statement, the US Strategic Command said the launch “did not pose a threat to North America.”
“It is believed that a KN-11 missile was launched on Wednesday morning off the coast of Sinpo, North Korea,” a Pentagon spokesman said.
“This provocation only serves to increase the international community’s resolve to counter the DPRK’s prohibited activities, including through implementing existing UN Security Council sanctions,” Commander Gary Ross said while using an acronym’s for the North’s formal name.
