Rangers raid CPLC chief house

KARACHI (Web Desk) – The Rangers raided the residence of Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) Chief Ahmed Chinoy early in the morning on Tuesday morning, media reports say.
CPLC chief is reportedly accused of mishandling a kidnapping for ransom case. A young man was kidnapped from the New Karachi area of the city. Parents of the victim separately approached CPLC and the Rangers Task Force and both forces began working to solve the case.
While the victim was rescued by the Rangers, it was later alleged that Ahmed Chinoy mishandled the case and kept the mother of the victim waiting at the CPLC office even after her son was rescued by law enforcers.
Rangers raided the house of the CPLC chief on the complaint of the victim’s mother that he had mishandled the case.
Chinoy has dismissed these allegations terming them baseless. He said that Rangers did come to his house at 5:30 AM and left after meeting him for 15 minutes. He clarified that his house was not raided and therefore the incident should not be termed as such.
Chinoy denied allegations that the raiding party recovered Rs 1.5 million from his residence, nor was the victim recovered from his residence. He clarified that there were some misunderstandings which he has clarified.
Chinoy told the local media that he had met with DG Rangers and Governor Sindh to clarify this issue.
