ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf stalwarts Arif Alvi and Imran Ismail were released after a brief detention here on Monday.

The two PTI leaders were arrested from outside Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence when they were staging a sit-in for being denied entry to Bani Gala. Their release came after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar ordered police to immediately release them.

Television footage showed Capital City Police dragging Alvi into a car as he tried to remove barriers to reach Imran’s residence.

On Friday, singer Salman Ahmed was briefly detained from outside Bani Gala as he tried to visit Imran Khan.

Police have launched a massive crack down against PTI workers who are all set to stage power show in Islamabad on November 2nd.

Last night, PTI workers from across the Punjab were detained by police officials including renowned actor Kashif Mehmood who openly supports Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

PTI MNA Junaid Akbar has also been detained a short while ago.

While talking to newsmen a short while ago, PTI leader Sha Mehmood Qureshi deplored the arrests of PTI workers and questioned as to why the road leading to bani Gala was dug.

He said that interior minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan ordered the removal of containers yesterday but they were put up again.

He reaffirmed that the party would move to Supreme Court for challenging the decision of Islamabad High Court barring PTI from Islamabad lock down.
