Cylinder explosion caused blast in DHA Lahore, says Rana Sanaullah

LAHORE – Provincial law minister Rana Sanaullah claimed on Friday that the blast in DHA Lahore was caused due to leakage in a gas cylinder.

Addressing a press conference in the provincial capital, the minister expressed that the blast was merely accidental and no explosives were found during the investigations.

“It was not an act of terrorism,” asserted Rana Sanaullah.

He maintained that strict action would be taken against those found guilty of selling low-quality cylinders.

“We will take strict action against authorities involved in making substandard cylinders that led to this explosion,” Rana Sanaullah said.

He detailed that the forensic department collected six samples from the site and the investigations confirmed there was no explosive material that detonated.

In a veiled reference, the minister took aim at multiple media outlets which aired fake news regarding blast in Gulberg stirring panic among the locals.

“Instead of ratings, channels should be focused on reporting credible news. It is our war against terrorism and we have to work together,” said Rana Sanaullah.

He expressed that the media would be apprised of decision regarding holding PSL final in Lahore soon as the government was looking into multiple aspects.

Inspector General Punjab police Mushtaq Sukhera, Home Secretary Punjab and DG Punjab Forensic Science were also present during the pivotal press talk after fateha was offered for the deceased ones.
