Lahore – Denmark, and Pakistan enjoy strong and multi-faceted relations, which was evident from the public festival ‘DKinPK’ organized by the Embassy of Denmark. The event showcased the longstanding and highly diverse collaboration between both countries within the areas of trade, development, peace and stabilization and cultural exchange.
Speaking at the event, the Ambassador of Denmark, H.E. Ole Thonke said that the Embassy had launched “DKinPK’ as part of its efforts to reach out to Pakistanis and create awareness about the important and long standing partnership between the two countries. “In addition to presenting the work of our local partners in Pakistan, we also want to increase awareness about Danish expertise which can provide inspiration to Pakistan, for example within areas of health, energy, food and water management”, said Ambassador Thonke.
During the event, multiple partners, who have been supported by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) since 2010, showcased their work and contributions in Pakistan, which primarily focus on promoting gender equality, democracy, human rights, education and arts and culture. Many of the Danish companies operating in Pakistan also showcased their efforts towards wind energy, water management, healthcare, and textile solutions. The guests could also get a taste of delicious Danish food prepared by the globally recognized Ms. Kamilla Seidler – awarded Best Chef in Latin America 2016 – while listening to the captivating music performances by the Danish band ‘Jonas and the Gang’.
The Ambassador also emphasized on Denmark’s focus on creating business partnerships, which will result in knowledge sharing, job creations and innovative solutions for Pakistan. “Pakistan remains an important partner to us, and we look forward to exploring further areas of collaboration, where we can create a win-win situation for both countries while continue to strengthen our bilateral and people-to-people relations”, said Ambassador Thonke. He also reiterated that Pakistan was an amazing and untapped country with so much to offer in terms of culture, diversity and business opportunities. “I hope that today, we were able to showcase a bit about what Denmark can offer to Pakistan and especially how much we can achieve together through meaningful partnerships”, concluded the Ambassador.
