Sindh government extends Rangers special powers for 90 days in Karachi

KARACHI – The Sindh government on Wednesday approved an extension in the special powers of the Pakistan Rangers for further 90 days in Karachi.

It is being reported that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has signed a summary, which will now be sent to the federal government for approval.

The special powers are going to expire on July 14 after it was extended for 90 days in April. Now, the powers have been extended till October 12, 2017.

The Rangers operation was launched in the city under the National Action Plan and the Anti-Terrorism Act to eliminate crimes, terrorism, targeted killing, kidnapping for ransom and extortion in the city.
