Motorway police spring into action following overturning of two oil tankers

RAHIM YAR KHAN – The National Highways and Motorway Police, Central Zone averted a possible disaster as two oil-tankers carrying 40,000-litre petrol and 25,000 litres respectively overturned near Sadiqabad on National Highway in last 24 hours.

An oil tanker No TLB -466 of Pakistan State Oil carrying 40-thousand-liter petrol overturned near Taj Choke, Sadiqabad after which another oil tanker no TTC-584 going from Karachi to Lala Mosa overturned near Muslim Choke, Sadiqabad due to technical fault.

The Motorway Police patrolling mobile reached the scene immediately and cordoned off the whole area and diverted the traffic on the alternative routes.

DIG Motorway Police Mirza Faran Baig supervised all rescue operations until the road was cleared.

The affected track of National Highway was closed for a few hours while traffic was diverted towards alternative routes. Motorway Police contacted all relevant agencies for their immediate action.

The oil tanker drivers clearly violated the SOP as they both were driving alone accompanied by a helper and without relevant documents.

According to OGRA manual, the oil tanker must carry two drivers with all its relevant documents.

The Motorway Police have initiated legal proceedings against owner and driver via district police.
