Vidya Balan takes stand against cast couching, urges victims to speak up

MUMBAI – Indian star actor Vidya Balan has also opened up about sexual harassment during promotions of her upcoming film, Tumhari Sulu.

In an interview tom an Indian publication, the Bollywood actor stated that the people who had suffered sexual harassment only know exactly what it feels like as they are really in an uncomfortable situation.

‘When someone just rubs or touches you with his hand, sometimes I get really angry. So I think in that sense, there are a lot of degrees in sexual harassment’ she said.

The ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ stated that she was very glad that people were talking about it now adding that women were talking about it and they should talk about it because it was not their fault.

‘We should name and shame those who are sexually harassing others, undoubtedly’ she declared vehemently.

Let it be known that the upcoming movie of  38-year-old protagonist ‘Tumhari Sulu’ is directed  by Suresh Triveni, featuring Neha Dhupia and Manav Kaul alongside Vidya Balan. The film is all set to release on 17 November.

This is not the first time any Bollywood actor condemned against casting couch in the film industry. Previously Irfan Khan and Richa Chadha also spoken on this issue after the Harvey Weinstein controversy of sexual harassment came to the fore.
