Govt replaces Ishaq Dar with Ahsan Iqbal as CCI member

ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced to replace Fiance Minister Ishaq Dar, who is in London for medical treatment, with Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal as representative of the government at the Council of Common Interest.

President Mamnoon Hussain approved the nomination of Iqbal on the advice of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi hours before the CCI meeting is scheduled for today (Monday) at 4:00pm today.

The prime minister will chair the meeting where issues regarding recently conducted census and delimitation of the constituencies will be taken up.

Earlier, Abbasi had removed Dar as chairman of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).

It is important to mention that the finance minister was being tried at the accountability court following the charges of possessing assets beyond known sources of income.
