Rent bulldozers to demolish illegal buildings in Murree within 5 days, orders SC

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court on Monday gave a five-day deadline to the administration for demolishing illegal buildings in Muree.

A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, passed the orders while hearing a case regarding illegal structure in the famous tourist area. The bench also ordered deputy commissioner (DC) to get bulldozers on rent to demolish the buildings.

The chief justice also questioned the DC about the owners of these buildings, besides directing him to submit a detailed report on it to the court.

The DC informed that Illegal buildings are present in Murree since 2013.

The chief justice asked him to provide details of people under whose orders these illegal buildings were built, adding an order to bring all the cases being heard by other courts to the Supreme Court.

Saqib remarked that the illegal structure grew in the hill area with the support of the department concerned.

He said that an inspection team would visit the area, adding that inaction in this regard will bring dire consequences. Warning the DC, he said, “Either these illegal builidings will fall or you will.”

The case has been adjourned until tomorrow (Tuesday).
