17 killed in train-truck collision in Tunisia

TUNIS (Web Desk) – At least 17 people have been killed and over 70 injured when a passenger train collided with a truck in the south of Tunisia.

The collision happened near el Fahs, 60 kilometers south of Tunis after the train derailed, reported The Hindu.

Tunisia’s Minister of Health Said Aydi has confirmed the death toll. The Transport of Minister Mahmoud Ben Romdhane said, “The death toll could rise”.

Te transport ministry also revealed that most of the dead were passengers on the train, while the two drivers were also killed.

The train was heading to the capital, Tunis from the town of Gaafour, 120 kilometers southwest of the capital, in the morning rush hour.
